WHERE DOES THE COMPENSATION COME FROM?

All pharmacy discount cards come with a processing fee which the pharmacy pays. This processing fee is paid to the PBM associated with the card. Depending on the PBM, the arangements and contracts, the money is divided up and distributed appropraitely.

The consumer is not affected by these fees, it’s all out of pocket for the pharmacy.

WHY IS THE PHARMACY “OKAY” WITH DISCOUNT CARDS?

The pharmacy takes two hits; 1. The processing fee (it’s a fee for using the discount card’s discount service). 2. The discounted drug is less costly for the consumer, which means the pharmacy takes home less.

The main reason for allowing these cards, or being “okay” with them is loyalty within the consumer. By receiving a good price for their prescriptions they will naturally return or transfer all their prescriptions to the pharmacy that saved them money. This in return allows the pharmacy to have more “face time” with the consumer who will most likely purchase other products within the store. For example: at CVS the average consumer will spend $34 at the store while waiting for or picking up their prescription. At Walmart the average consumer spends $127 while waiting for or picking up their prescription.

FAQ

Can you tell me more about this service?

Discount cards are not insurance. They must be used properly to help the uninsured or patient request due to high copays/prices, not in place of insurance. We aim to give non- insured patients a discount from cash prices, which could keep them from obtaining their medication. We do not illegitimately process claims falsely for unpaid services nor obtain government kickback in any federal way. We are not providers and we do not dictate or determine the use of a any specific medication or service. We do not determine where a patient goes for their medication services. Normal discard card fees apply. The goal is help aid uninsured patients in the affordability of prescribed medications. and give the best price availible.
